Poca Dot High School / Poca, WV

During NSSD week Poca High School went pink. Also, many of the middle school kids, youth league and adults in the community went pink as well. The cheerleaders bought the football players pink mouth pieces, pink “polka dotted” socks, and pink wristbands for their own Breast Cancer Awareness week. Poca High teamed up with the Susan G Komen foundation and painted Poca pink the entire week. They included hand outs and literature about Breast Cancer and the cheerleaders passed them out proudly to both sides of the football field at the game and during the week at school. The school has about 400 students, the cheerleaders sold 455 POCA GOES PINK -PINK OUT T-shirts and the profits all went to the Susan G Komen foundation. They raised $1130 for Susan G Komen, knowing that breast cancer awareness month is in October they are planning even more in the upcoming month.
